Canadian Passport Picture Requirements


Canada has specific requirements for passport photos. A Canadian passport application is going to be rejected when the photos don't meed the unique specifications. Many passport applications are rejected on account of photos not meeting the desired requirements.

Quantity
You need two identical photos on the same film or electronic file image for each and every passport.

Size Photo
The photos must measure exactly 2 inches wide and a couple 3/4 inches long. In addition, the duration of the face within the photo from chin towards crown of this head need to be between 1 1/4 inches 1 7/16 inches.

Photo Image
The head would need to cover approximately 25 percent with the photo. Therefore, the photo should be a closeup from the head and shoulders. Furthermore, the photo must have uniform lighting, good contrast, be a sharp in-focus image, and have no shadow behind the ears or reflection on glasses. The eye must be square towards the camera as well as the facial features clearly visible. Finally, it's not necassary to be smiling or have orally open within the photograph.

Background
The backdrop with the photograph need to be taken against the plain white or light-colored background.

Photographer
Only photographs from commercial photographers are acceptable. The commercial photographer must print or hand write his name or his studio's name, the address along with the date the photo was taken within the back of one from the photos. Stickers or labels usually are not acceptable.

Guarantor
A guarantor must sign the "Promise of Guarantor" a part of the passport application. In addition, she must write on one the back of on the list of passport photos, "I certify this to become true likeness of (a message)," and sign below this statement.
